Easy DIY All-Natural Homemade Lip Balm

How to make all natural homemade lip balm with essential oils

I got the ingredients to make homemade lip balm months ago and have looked at different recipes but could never decide which one I wanted to try! I thought it would be a lot of work and didn’t really know what I was doing so I kept putting it off. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!

I ran out of my Lavender essential oil samples that I give out as party gifts and needed to come up with something quick. I saw all my lip balm supplies starring at me from my DIY box and decided that now was as good a time as any to give it a try! As I was getting going one of my sisters put in a request, she wanted a “really smooth chap-stick”. Being that I aim to please I tweaked the recipe a little and gave it a whirl. It took 10 minutes and was a HUGE success! I promise you will LOVE this easy homemade lip balm recipe! You might like it so much you never buy lip balm at the store again!

What You Will Need

  • 1 soup pan
  • 1 mason jar
  • chopstick
  • 1.5 Tbs Organic Bees wax
  • 1 Tbs Organic Unscented Shea Butter
  • 1 Tbs Organic Coconut Oil
  • 12 Lip balm tubes (flat circle containers or old EOS lip balm work well too)
  • Essential Oil of choice

How To Make Your Homemade Lip Balm:

Place your empty mason jar into one inch of water in your pan and turn on medium heat. Add 1.5 Tbs of Organic Bees Wax, 1 Tbs Organic Shea Butter, and 1 Tbs of Organic Coconut Oil into mason jar. Be careful not to get any water in your mason jar. Stir contents with your chopstick once melted. Once melted turn off heat and add essential oil/s of choice. Stir again. My favorite is 15 drops of peppermint, 5 drops of Spearmint. Pour mixture into your Lip Balm containers. (I used a glass medicine dropper for 1/2 and then poured the other half. I highly recommend pouring into containers as the dropper is really hard to clean and takes so much longer to fill containers. After 2 minutes go back and top off your tubes as they will settle. Place in the fridge for a quicker settle time. Ready to use in 30 minutes. This batch made 1 recycled EOS lip balm and 9 regular lip balm tubes.

Great for party favors, stocking stuffers, or just to have a lip balm in every room!

Other Recommended Lip Balm Flavors:

  • Soothing Mint: 15 drops Peppermint, 5 drops Spearmint
  • Bergamot Lime : 10 drops Bergamot, 10 drops lime
  • Tangerine: 30 drops Tangerine
  • Lavender Mint: 10 drops Lavender, 10 drops Peppermint
